Are you an ANNIE or a hallie?

YO TIE DYE GIRL
Are you an Annie or a Hallie? We found the iconic Napa Valley Ranch, home to everyone's spiritual dad, Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid) and the posh London flat, home to fashion icon Elizabeth James (Natasha Richardson). Can you even choose between the two? The hardest would you rather ever!
Not sure what we’re talking about? Let me explain…
One of the most iconic movies to ever grace our screens was the 1998 hit classic The Parent Trap, starring Lindsay Lohan and Lindsay Lohan. As a millennial who was raised by the Disney Channel, The Parent Trap will forever hold a special place in my heart. When Disney+ launched, you better believe this was the first movie I watched. Followed by other LiLo classics like Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004) & Get a Clue (2002).
The Parent Trap (1998) is a remake of a 1961 film of the same name, starring Hayley Mills. A pair of twins is separated at birth by their divorced parents, living across the world not knowing of each other's existence. Until one summer, they meet at a camp and decide to switch places so they can get their parents back together. It’s beautiful, funny, heartwarming, and hella quotable. Not to mention it launched Lindsay Lohan into the star we know her to be!
Watching The Parent Trap growing up, you definitely identified with one twin or the other. For me, I’ve always been a Hallie Parker. (Right down to her fantastic blue nail polish). But as I get older, I absolutely have an appreciation for the sheer dramatics of an 11-year-old British girl rolling up to an American summer camp in a limo, with a butler!
Hallie Parker’s Napa Valley Vineyard
Staglin Family Vineyard - 1570 Bella Oaks Ln, Rutherford, CA 94573
There’s a fantastic interaction when Hallie is explaining to her camp friends where she lives:
“What are you two, Lucy & Ethel? I’ve never even been to Hollywood! I live in Napa, that’s Northern California, and I live next door to a vineyard.”
“A what-yard?”
“A vineyard. It’s where you grow grapes, to make wine. That’s what we do - me and my dad. We own a vineyard.”
And of course when we finally get to see the vineyard for the first time with Annie, we are also in absolute awe! Not only does a young, hot Denis Quaid live there. There’s also horses, a pool, a dog and our favourite nanny/best friend, Cheesy (Lisa Ann Walter).
In real life, Nick Parker’s Vineyard is actually the Staglin Family Vineyard in Rutherford, California. Which is about an hour drive from San Francisco. You can book private tours and wine tasting experiences that will allow you to walk around this filming location. You can see from the photos below, even the painting is the same!
I would also like to take this time to personally apologize to the character of Meredith Blake (Elaine Hendrix). I may have hated you as a 10 year old, but as a 27 year old - I relate, man. I wish you luck on all your future endeavours of locking down millionaires. If you do, please don’t forget about me!
Annie James’s London House
23 Egerton Terrace, Chelsea, London SW3 2BU, UK
This beautiful semi-detached London house is exactly the kind of place up and coming fashion designer Elizabeth James (Natasha Richardson), and her family would live. And it’s only a 10 min walk away from the iconic London department store: Harrods!
According to The Guardian, in 2012 & 2013 Egerton Terrace was London’s most expensive street. This London real estate listing notes that the last time this house sold, in 2011, it went for £12 million. That’s over $20.5 million CAD! Way to go Elizabeth!
The clean white facade with curated front garden contrasts the rugged feel of Napa Valley. Much like Hallie seeing it for the first time, we love it!
The exterior and interior shots from the movie were all filmed at this location. But please remember this is a private residence. If you do go out to see this house, please be respectful to its owner.
